The New York State Child Support Guidelines
In New York, child support levels are often determined by family court officials called support magistrates. The officials use a standard guideline to help establish the amount of support to be paid by the noncustodial parent. Generally, this is based on the noncustodial parent's income and the number of children involved. Support can include cash payments, payment of health insurance for the child and other health care costs, and child care payments.
